Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Oxytocin Neurophysiology

Position: Postdoctoral researcher position with possibility of developing to Associated Researcher in the Joint-Lab for Neuromodulation, co-directed by Profs. Valery Grinevich and Jin Bao.

Contract length: 24 months

Working location: Shenzhen, China (one of the most active cities in China)

Research platform

The research team is based at the following prestigious institutions:

  1. Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)

  2. Shenzhen Neher Neural Plasticity Laboratory

  3. International Joint Laboratory for Neural Modulation(joint lab between SIAT and Heidelberg University)

Research project

Oxytocin is involved in stress-coping, social behavior and emotional modulation. How oxytocin is released in the central nervous system and how it orchestrates with other neurotransmitter signaling, such as Glutamate and GABA release, are still not clear at its functional relevant spatiotemporal scales, such as at the oxytocin release site in lateral septum or prefrontal cortex.

The project will characterize the following properties concerning oxytocin signaling:

  • Where oxytocin is released in the sub-compartments of neurons (with imaging technique)

  • The dynamics of oxytocin release and its relation to neural activates (with electrophysiology)

Qualifications

  • PhD in Neuroscience or equivalent fields

  • At least one first-author SCI paper published

  • Experience in electrophysiology is required

Salary

SIAT is a CAS institute with international and inclusive working environment. Salary for Postdoctoral researcher depends on the his/her qualification and experience, with fairness in gender and nationality. The minimum annual salary is 280,000 Yuan net (proximately 34,000 Euros). The researcher will have equivalent social benefit in China.
